The Triumphants
Primary tabs

The Triumphants is one part of a bigger project. And within this one part, there are two parts. Confused? Let me explain.
The Triumphants is two stories. Two solo plays directed by Abigail Greenwood, who recently won the Hackman Theatre Award for best newcomer director.
It starts with ...And Then You Die, the inherently positive (?) story about a girl called Debbie who dreams of a life straight out of the movies. The only problem is that Debbie's current life situation is nothing like her dream. She doesn't have the romance, the fun or the glamour she wants, so she makes a change. A big change.
Then there's a story called Nick, a true story based on Dunedin local Nick Chisholm who made headlines in 2000 when he suffered a major stroke whilst playing rugby. Nick's life before the accident was typical for any outgoing twenty-something, but after the accident everything was different. There was struggle, there was heartache, there was silence (Nick lost his ability to speak). Nick is an awe-inspiring story about Nick Chisholm's journey after the accident.
